Advanced Training/Support

This training and support is customised to the needs of individual clients and takes place at a client’s institution. It has been developed to provide support and training that fills a gap between generic courses and full independence. It can also be used to help staff and institutions extend their use of variants of the STAGE and GLOBE models. It is limited to using variants of the STAGE and GLOBE families. It is required that the client is already a user of models from the STAGE and GLOBE families and/or is a graduate of a training programme provided by CGEMOD.

The development of new variants designed to meet the specific needs of institutions is treated as consultancy.

The precise arrangements are case specific, so the following options are only indicative.

Option 1: Developing Simulation and Interpretation Skills

This support would typically be designed to enhance the skills of a client’s staff already working with a variant of STAGE or GLOBE. Before onsite support various activities would have been completed, e.g., database, background study, description of policy scenario, etc. Thereafter Karen or Scott would be at the client’s institution for one week (Mon-Fri) to provide ‘hands on’ support (typically 4-6 hours of contact per day).

An objective of joint journal/academic publications from this option are encouraged.

Cost range: c£3,000 to £4,000 plus travel and accommodation.

Option 2: Using a Variant of STAGE/GLOBE

This support would typically be designed to help client’s staff transition to using a different/new variant of STAGE or GLOBE, and may involve some customisation of the variant to the client’s specific needs.

Cost range: c£3,000 to £5,000 plus travel and accommodation.

Option 3: Support for Confidential Policy Analyses

This support would typically be provided to client’s who needed to conduct confidential policy analyses for which additional support with designing simulations and/or interpreting results and/or customisation of a model variant is wanted. In these cases the specifics of support offered will be case specific.

Cost range: c£4,000 per week plus travel, accommodation and other expenses.
