Computable General Equilibrium for Policy Advisors
This course is offered in cycles 1 and 2
There are three (3) modules in the course:
This course is designed to meet the requirements of participants who want to develop a sufficient understanding of the CGE models to evaluate the outcomes of commissioned studies. Participants who want to become ‘users’ of CGE models for applied studies and/or modellers should take the Practical CGE course.
The materials are organised in 3 modules offered over 5 weeks, with support offered in a fifth week to allow for ‘slippage’. The first 3 modules have a total of 17 components, each of which requires approximately 3 hours of input from the participants. The final module of the course is devoted to a guided research project that requires about 10 hours of input. Thus, participants should allocate some 60 hours complete the course. Each module requires the participants to submit an assignment; this allows the tutor to monitor progress and understanding.
The course includes two pre-course modules. These are open source at the CGEMOD web site. In the two weeks before starting the ‘Practical CGE Modelling course’, participants fully registered for the course are required to complete two short assignments before starting the course.
The materials are delivered using MOODLE, which provides an asynchronous forum in which participants engage with each other participants and the course instructor.
Questions and requests for advice submitted between 0800 and 1600 UTC will be responded to by the end of the next working (Monday to Friday) day, i.e., by 1600 UTC.
